Islamic Architecture in Bosnia and Hercegovina Amir Pasic

Bosnia and Hercegovina. It deals extensively with the history of architecture in Bosnia and Hercegovina, the state of the architectural heritage before and during the war, the various arts which decorate and enrich this architecture. It also contains a list of the hundreds of manuments which have been destroyed during the war.

'Using many pictures and diagrams of mosques and churches, Pasic shows how architectural themes flowed between Christian and Muslim buildings. The physical evidence gives weight to the author's contention that Bosnia's various confessional groups communicated peacefully and productively throughout the organisation of their public and private space.' Michael R. Hickok, Turkish Studies Association Bulletin, Vol.21, no.1 (1997)

'Pasic's study is timely and should be carefully studied by those involved in the reconstruction process or those who might join that process in the near future. Let us hope it will facilitate the preservation and continuity of the Bosnian-Islamic heritage in the built environment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.' Besim S. Hakim, MESA Bulletin,32 (1998)

'A publication in the English language, thanks to the author who is from Bosnia, and we are expecting an edition in the Bosnian language.' Zlatko Zvonic, KABES, January 1996
